Foods To Avoid Joint Pain
We move our body with the help of joints. So, when they are harmed, it means that there is a health issue that should be adequately treated.
What Causes Joint Pain?
A lot of people are affected by joint pain and the pain can occur as a result of sprains, injuries, osteoarthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, and bursitis.
This pain can occur in any area on the body and it can become worse with aging. It can be acute (it will last for few weeks or days), or it can be chronic (it will last for months).
There is a research which proves that 1/3 of adults have some type of joint pain occasionally. The body areas which become affected mostly by the pain are those that are constantly active such as neck, knees, shoulders, ankles, hips, and the low back.
Food You Must Never Eat If You Suffer From Joint Pain!
1. Refined carbs
Ingredients such as white flour have a high GI which causes inflammation.
2. Sugar
Sugars that are highly processed such as sweets, candies, and sodas, can discharge cytokines. Cytokines are can cause inflammation and lead to joint pain and swelling.
3. Dairy
Dairy products can cause inflammation for many people, especially those who eat and drink a lot of dairy products.
4. Red and processed meat
This type of meat contains a lot of nitrate and purine. They are chemicals that cause pain and inflammation in the joints and may cause swellings.
5. Sodium
A lot of meals that are packed or pre-made contain high amounts of salt. Refined sodium contains a lot of chemicals and additives which can do harm to the health and make the joint pain worse.
6. Corn Oils
A lot of baked foods or snacks are full with corn oil that can cause inflammation and swelling to the joint. You should consume anti-inflammatory oils such as olive oil, flaxseed, nuts, and pumpkin seeds.
7. Monosodium glutamate
MSG enhances the flavour to many foods and it’s mostly added to sauces, dressings, junk foods, or deli meat. MSG can make the joint pain worse by causing inflammation in the body.
8. Alcoholic Beverages
Liver is not the only organ that is affected by alcohol consumption. Excessive alcohol consumption can cause joint pain and make the existing pain worse. However, there are some foods that fight inflammation, boost the immunity, and improve the health of the joints and the bones:
- Oatmeal, whole-grain cereals, brown rice
- Broccoli

- Salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring
